Bootleg Canyon Zipline Just Outside of Las Vegas

A short 30 minute drive from Las Vegas in the red mountains of Boulder City is a wonderful outdoor adventure waiting for you and your family. Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon offers thrill seekers four separate zipline runs that soar over 1.5 miles of the Mojave Desert.

After having ziplined over the beautiful tropical waters of El Garrafon in Cancun and ziplining over Downtown Las Vegas’ Fremont Street on Slotzilla, we were eager to experience flying high above the Nevada desert mountains.

Once we arrived at the Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon office and checked in for our tour, our group was brought back into their zipline flight school. We were then introduced to our four tour guides, fitted for our zipline gear and went through a live (no lame videos here) safety class. Our guides were personable, funny and very informative which put us all at ease prior to heading up the mountain.

Our tour group then boarded our Flightlinez bus and took a scenic drive through the canyon road to the top of the mountain. As we exited the bus, we were greeted with a wonderful view of the Nevada desert and the Las Vegas Strip way off in the distance.

After a few minutes taking in the views and having the tour guides snap a couple pictures of us, our group grabbed our belongings and strapped our zipline trolleys over our shoulders to get ready for our hike to the first zipline launch platform. Our guides did offer to carry our trolleys for us, which we declined, but that we do recommend for the younger guests going on the hike.

Fast and Fun on the Bootleg Canyon Ziplines

After a nice and hearty 15 minute hike through the canyon, we arrived at the first of the four zipline runs. The tour guides grabbed our trolleys from us, told us to relax and started to set up the zipline run. The first to go down the ziplines are the two guides that will be giving us breaking instructions, via flags, as we approach the landing platform. Once they are on the landing, the two remaining guides ready the ziplines for our ride down the mountain.

Now it’s our turn. We step onto the launch platform that overlooks the canyon, up onto a step to get us clipped onto our trolley, sit back into our harness and wait to be launched down the zipline. I am sure everyone will have different emotions as they await their launch, but my excitement and anticipation for the ride down was balanced out with peacefulness for the views and the quietness of the mountains.

Once everything is all set with the ziplines and the guides on the landing, your “launch” guide gets behind you, asks you if you are ready to go and then launches you down the zipline combined with a “See Ya” farewell. All of the four ziplines get up to speed very quickly and that combined with the mountain views and zipline heights gives you an exhilarating adrenaline rush. The full body zipline harnesses do make you feel safe and comfortable so you enjoy your ride down the mountain.
