A Las Vegas Kid Friendly Hotel

Most hotel resorts with bars and huge casinos taking up the entire lobby are not usually deemed kid-friendly resorts. The South Point Resort is the exception as it offers many family friendly activities that make it easy for those traveling with kids. Although still a casino suitable for the avid gambler, it was definitely a very well maintained property with an abundance of things to do for the entire family, without actually leaving the resort.

South Point Hotel Casino and Spa is located about 6 miles south of the famous Las Vegas Strip, so a short drive up Las Vegas Blvd. and your in all the Vegas action. It is close enough to the strip to not miss any of the fun, but far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle when you want to relax with the family. The resort offers a shuttle bus to the strip for a fee, so we opted to rent a car so that we can go beyond just the strip.

Fun Activities for the Family

With the in-laws and kids in tow, we needed to find a resort that would keep everyone in the family happy. After weighing a few places to stay on the Las Vegas Strip with a couple off strip, we decided on the South Point Resort which offered plenty of family activities without having to leave the resort. We stayed at the South Point Hotel for a week and were entertained for the entire time, thanks to the assortment of activities that they have in the resort combined with the fun things to do with kids in Las Vegas.

Why We Recommend the South Point Hotel For Families

  • Clean and Comfortable Rooms
  • Suites w/ Separate Living Room
  • Wonderful Swimming Pool
  • A Variety of Dining Options
  • 64 Lane Bowling Center
  • 16-screen Movie Theater
  • A Nice Arcade
  • Vegas Entertainment for Parents

A Lagoon Style Swimming Pool

We were impressed with the large swimming pool area at the resort. Along with the large lagoon style pool is a hot tub (16 years old and up), plenty of lounge chairs, towel service, a wading pool and a gazebo. The swimming pool was clean, spacious, cool and had shallow enough waters to allow the smaller kids to be able to walk and swim without going into the deeper depths. If it were up to our daughter, we would have spent the whole week at the South Point’s Pool, which is part of our list of the best family pools in Las Vegas

A Movie Theater

Another favorite of our family was the large movie theater that they have in the resort (just a quick escalator ride from the lobby). The 16-screen Century Theatre movie complex was a great convenience as it offered enough choices for us to find a family friendly movie as well as allowing us to leave our room 10 minutes before the shows started. They have nice stadium style theaters and a couple of theaters also show XD movies.

A Bowling Center and Arcade

The South Point Hotel’s Bowling Center has 64 lanes (32 lanes on each side), a pretty good snack bar and an arcade. With the large amount of lanes, there was no wait for us to get an available lane and start bowling right away. The prices were very affordable as well with midweek specials before 6:00 pm which was perfect for our family. They have a small arcade as well before the entrance to the bowling center. The arcade is the typical resort style arcade with skee ball, pop-a-shot and an assortment of video games. The kids can earn tickets when they play games and then trade them in for various prizes.

The South Point’s Rooms and Hotel Features

For our stay at the resort we booked the Junior 2 Bedroom Suite (it can only be booked by phone with the resort) which was a deluxe two queen room adjoined with a junior one bedroom suite that has a separated living room. The two rooms were across from each other at the end of the hall and a hallway door closed the entrance to both rooms to make one entrance. This allowed us to put the bambino to bed in the bedroom while we stayed up in the living room. We also paid a small fee to have a mini fridge brought to our room so that we could keep some milk and juices on hand. The rooms were clean, the TV was a great 42″ flat screen LED and the views were very nice overlooking Las Vegas. This was the perfect room set-up for the entire family.
